Remember in the last post I mentioned that we didn’t yet have a car seat? We’ve been teased several times: “You know that’s the only piece of baby equipment you actually need in order to leave the hospital, right?!” Yes, we know. To be honest, we figured we’d end up with one from Craigslist, as long as the integrity of the seat itself had never been compromised in an accident.
But you know how God has that way of taking your expectations and blowing them out of the water? Yeah, that.
After writing our last post, we were contacted by two amazing women and fellow bloggers, Heather of the EO and Allison of OMyFamily. They wondered if we still needed a car seat. Yes. Continue. They’d hosted a Graco Safety Home Party this past week. We’re listening intently. They have an extra seat to give away and did we want it? Let us think about that okay we thought about it YES.
The seat is state-of-the-art. From what we’ve read, it is the only newborn-to-2-years rear-facing seat, making it the safest one out there. It’s got a million and a half features that grow with babies to keep them safest at every stage, from 4 pounds to 40. I’m excited for its compatibility with the ClickConnect stroller (as we don’t have one of those yet, either).
I made Jon bring the seat inside so I could unpack it and touch it and practice with it. I love how simply the seat attaches and detaches from the base – I can do it practically one-handed! The LATCH attach function on the base couldn’t be any more user-friendly and will make installation in my car a snap (ha). The seat also reclines (in 8 different ways) for babies of various ages. All the padding and the 5-point harness system is sure to protect baby Jack, too, and that’s the most important feature.
All that said, we’re ready now, Jack. Any time!
Disclosure: We were given this car seat by the kind folks at Graco via Heather and Allison, and we are so grateful for it and the opportunity to share this review with you.
The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 – the first and only newborn to two-year infant car seat that actually grows with your baby from four pounds all the way up to 40 pounds. The car seat is designed for a parent on the go. The infant car seat can be easily removed from the base and used as a carrier when the infant is small, providing portability and convenience so you can easily move your infant in and out of the car without disturbing them.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.
